The Voice Finale Recap-Night 1

The final four artists: Craig Wayne Boyd, Damien, Chris Jamison and Matt McAndrew-sing to prove that they should be the Season 7 winner of the show. Each artist does a cover, a duet with his coach (which for Adam Levine, means three duets), and for the first time, an original song. For me, it will be more interesting to hear them do the original song, since we’ve already heard them do covers all season long. Each singer’s original song was also given a video, which I will post as well.

A summary of what was a very good night of performances:

Craig Wayne Boyd performed his single “My Baby’s Got A Smile On Her Face,” a duet with Blake Shelton of Randy Houser’s “Boots On,” and a cover of Alabama’s “In Pictures.”

Damien: covered “A Song For You,” made famous by Donny Hathaway, did a duet with Adam on Elton John’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me,” and performed his single, “Soldier.”

Chris Jamison did his duet with Adam on Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without You,” performed his original single “Velvet,” and covered Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River.

Finally, Matt McAndrew performed his single “Wasted Love,” did a duet with Adam on Maroon 5’s “Lost Stars,” and finished the show with “Over The Rainbow” from the Wizard of Oz.

Personally, any one of these guys could win this, which means it will come down to the votes. This was probably the best show of the season-each of the competitors performed very well. The original songs they were given fit each of their respective wheelhouses. I wish Damien had been given something a bit more uptempo-we know he can handle ballads extremely well. I think Matt McAndrew was the most consistent performer of the season, but each of the guys shined brightly tonight.

Who wins? Guess well find out on the overstuffed finale, where we will see all kinds of performances. Those guys better save their voices. If you have an opinion, leave it in the comments.
