So there I was minding my own business on an ordinary Wednesday (read: busy at work), when I took a break to peek at my smartphone to see that I got an email from WordPress that I received a comment on one of my posts. Well, you just knew I had to look, comments being as scarce as hen’s teeth and all, and what do I find out? My blogging comrade amaya911 had nominated me for an award! The Starlight Blogger award! Well, since I had never been nominated for anything like, ever, I felt elated-first that anyone had even taken enough notice to bother to nominate me at all, then to find out that it was actually true.
So, after reading her post about the award, and some of the other people she nominated (dang, I thought it was just me!), I found out there were some rules and stuff. Like, I had to display the award and thank the person who nominated me, as well as link to their blog. So let me get these right out of the way: thank you to amaya911 for nominating me for such a
prestigious award! Please do check out her writing at Life of an El Paso Woman (yes I already linked to it, but twice is just as nice).
Some background on the award—it is an “…Award to honor those individuals who are considered “The light emanating from the stars” the bloggers that brings daily light into your soul with their creativity the blogs you love to read, listen and visit!” And I fit the criteria?! Wow…and as you can see, the image of the award has been added to the post.
There is a bit of boilerplate I have to add for displaying the award though. And here it is:

Wait, there’s more! I have to nominate up to six bloggers that I feel deserve the award. Well, I think I’ll pass on that one. I couldn’t even guess six other bloggers that I could nominate, other than amaya911 herself, and she’s already been nominated by someone else. Not to mention, I don’t want to make it seem as if I’m playing any favorites. So, I’ll skip that part. There is one other thing: I have to answer three questions. Okay, shoot (not literally)!
Tell me the inspiration for your writing, your blogging. Who or what moves you? Music moves me, but you would be hard pressed to tell from the last month’s entries over here. All of Black Music Month (June), I think I made one music post. And out of all the artists in all of the world, I choose Eddie Murphy. The Price Is Right fail horn should be playing for that.
Also, I generally am moved to write by things that I find amusing in the news or current events, sports (I was a sports blogger once), and because I was asked to do it on Facebook, recaps of the television show The Voice. Hey, the last one is an easy way to build content (even if putting the posts together can be difficult). And if you can tell, or maybe you can’t—I like to make people laugh too.
Where would you ideally like to be to view the stars? Anywhere will do. If the sky is clear and I can see them, that’s good enough for me. I especially love nights when the moon is so bright you almost don’t need streetlights to see.
What would you like your biggest life achievement to be? That I was a good human being, a good friend, a good co-worker, a good father and perhaps one day again, a good husband. That would be all good, I do believe.
So, I’ll see if this is the first of many more, or if it ends right here. Either way, I will try to live up to the description of the award in my writing. Or there’ll be more Eddie Murphy sings reggae posts.
