The Three Day Quote Challenge: Day 2

Thanks to Amaya911, the El Paso Woman, for nominating me for the three day quote challenge. The rules (of course—everything has rules!) are that you are to select up to three quotes each day for three consecutive days, and nominate three different bloggers each of the three days. I will try to meet these requirements.

Yesterday, I used a quote about Veterans Day. Today, I’m going to choose one of my favorite quotes of all time. Although, I have to admit, when I first heard it, I didn’t know who actually said it. The first time I heard it, it was on WHUR-FM on the late shift. The DJ’s name, I believe was Joe Gorham (who still works at the station, by the way), and before signing off, he would say the phrase. And it turns out, he didn’t have the quote totally correct, but the meaning was the same.

As I would come to find out, the quote is actually from Eleanor Roosevelt. And it goes like this:

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

Eleanor Roosevelt

The words Gorham changed? He used the phrase “talk about” instead of “discuss.” But like I said, the meaning was unchanged. In fact, I prefer using talk about rather than discuss. So that’s my quote for the day.

The three bloggers that I nominate for this challenge (who may or may not participate):

Izzyasabee

Elan Muldrow

Deanna Willmon

If you choose to participate, please follow the rules as stated above. If not, I won’t be offended. Not one bit.

This is one of my favorites, and if you hadn’t heard it before, maybe it will be one of yours, too. If it is one of yours, or you have any reaction at all, leave me a comment.
