The 100-Word Story Challenge

Another day, another blogging challenge! This time, I want to thank Amaya, the El Paso Woman for nominating me for this.  Give her blog a look/see; you will definitely enjoy what you find. And as always, there are a few rules though they aren’t very strict. For instance, you can be over or under by 10 or so words. You can write about any subject. You can nominate as many, or a few bloggers as you like. I will nominate a few; they may participate; they may not.

It’s going to be a bit tricky, this one. I tend to be wordy no matter the circumstances, but I’m going to give this one a shot. Of course, the story will have something to do with music, so it is called The First Song I Can Remember.

My mother was a big Otis Redding fan. She wore the grooves out of the album History Of Otis Redding, the album I remember his voice from when I was very young.

The song I remember the most, and that I love to this day, is “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long.” The dramatic, push and pull from the gentle beginning, till he builds to the very end, has stuck with me all these years. And it is the song that started me on a love of classic R&B, and the song I first remember hearing and loving.

The bloggers that I nominate:

The Baseball Bloggess

Peace, Love & Patchouli

My Friday Blog

She Talks Baseball

And of course, the post wouldn’t be complete without the song itself:

For me at least, that right there is 3:16 of aural bliss. Enjoy, and if you have any impressions of the song, leave them in the comments.

    1. Good luck, kiddo. As for Otis, he is one of my all-time favorites. Not so much for his vocal ability…but you can feel his emotion when he sings. And I obviously felt something all those years ago when my mom kept playing this song. Took me years to figure out what all that was, though.

  2. Found your blog via Stephellaneous who also mentioned the 100 word story challenge. The song is one of my favourites, it never stands still, so dramatic and adventurous. I also love writing about music and have posted on my favourite influences. Is your story available to read?
