This one was lurking. Hidden away behind all that classic R&B of the 70s and 80s and 90s (yes, even the 90s). Behind hip-hop and R&B collaborations. Mixed all up in that new jack swing goodness.
And then it hit me: I hadn’t danced this week to a morning groove. So I got me one. Hold on a second.
(starts the video and gets into something)
(settles down and gets back to the topic at hand)
This song by Soul II Soul and Caron Wheeler always makes me feel good when I hear it. I remember them being a breath of fresh air when they came on the scene in the late 80s-early 90s. When “Keep On Movin'” and then this song came out, the group was heralded as a headliner of a bold new sound for R&B. And of course, it had to come from the UK, since R&B in the States at that time had fallen into new jack swing mode. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Nuh uh. Not one thing.
I also think of stampedes. No, not like those in the old west. I’m talking people running to get to the dance floor when this joint came on. Every age has its own “club bangers,” or songs that make people actually want to dance in a club. This was one of those from that era. And I know, because I was a part of a few of those stampedes.
So on this Wednesday, get your groove on with Soul II Soul. I hope you have a great day! Thanks again for reading and listening.
I still like this one! They still play it on the radio.

Nice one T. So this end, it’s afternoon and this was a great song for waking me up. Thought I’d join you for a moment – my golden oldie additions to the old club songs. Enjoy your day further 🙂

Thanks, Chevvy! Some good stuff you got there. There was a time when I knew the words to Rapper’s Delight…but not sure I can recall them now. Hope your day was great!

Ah,the music helped cheer me up, I haven’t listened to those songs in a long while so it was refreshing to be reminded of the good old days. These days I like the more laid back R&B. You topped up your skittles? 🙂

Not yet! I gotta get to work on that…so sorry to hear that you needed to be cheered up, but that’s what good music can do!

I totally agree on music being great therapy but don’t worry I’m fine. But I guess you know that some days have their dips and that’s when you pick out your favorite songs. So thanks for the cure:-)
