Thinking back to the Deep Creek Weekend, I remember today’s song coming on during our stay. Lots of heads nodding and singing along commenced. A few people danced (or chair-danced). You can probably guess what I was doing.
I needed a song today to give me a jump start. Not that I’m working (oops, I wasn’t supposed to mention that in this post). But I have some things I need to accomplish and it won’t happen unless I’m fully focused on the task or tasks at hand.
Today, I give you Blackstreet, featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen, with “No Diggity.” It’s the Friday Morning Groove.
Teddy Riley, the innovator who helped create New Jack Swing (or maybe he is most associated with it), was looking to form a new group after his former group Guy broke up. With Chauncey Hannibal, Levi Little and Dave Hollister, the new group was named Blackstreet. After the first album, Hollister and Little left and were replaced by Mark Middleton and Eric Williams. When Another Level was released, “No Diggity” was the first single, and went all the way to number 1 on the Hot 100.
Never fails to get a head nod, this one. Enjoy the Morning Groove for today. And as always, thanks for reading and listening.
