The Music & Words Award

music-and-words-award-jpg

Once again, I must thank Lisa A. from the Life Of An El Paso Woman blog for nominating me for this new award. I have to admit, this one is going to be in my wheelhouse. Music and words? This will be fun! After all, most of the posts here are about music, and words have to be written about them—for isn’t that what some bloggers do? Write? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

There hasn’t been an award that I have received since I got back to blogging that doesn’t involve some rules. And guess what? This one has rules too (rules, always rules!). Without further adieu, here they are:

  1. Link back to the person who nominated you. (Done).
  2. Answer these questions with words AND music.
  3. Pass the award to 5 bloggers who inspire you with posts about music. (Even if they are award-free?) Well see about this one.
  4. Tag your post with #MWA, for Music & Words Award so we can all follow you down the line.
  5. Quote these five steps and the award icon in your post. You can display the icon on your sidebar as well.

So, here are the questions.

WHAT DOES MUSIC MEAN TO YOU?

Music is good for me, and it is good to me. It means that no matter what I go through, whether good or bad, it’s always there for me. The music can make me smile, make me think, and if you have read my blog, a lot of it makes me dance. It brings me joy and soothes my soul. Ever since I was young, I can’t remember a day without music in it.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MUSIC RELATED MEMORY?

I’ve written about this before, but the first song that I ever remember hearing was Otis Redding’s “Ive Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now).” My mother had the History Of Otis Redding album and while I loved everything on it (and still do), it was this song that I remember hearing first. And it sticks with me to this day.

WHAT’S THE FIRST ALBUM YOU’VE PURCHASED YOURSELF?

The first album I ever purchased: well I think I purchased two at the same time. Stevie Wonder’s Hotter Than July and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Faces.

WHAT IS THE LATEST MUSIC YOU’VE PURCHASED? (NO ONLINE STREAMING OR FREE DOWNLOADS, I’M TALKING ABOUT CASH HERE!)

The last song I purchased was a single by Renee Neufville, called “Watching Me.” It’s a song that I discovered while writing the post about Zhané earlier this week. She is one of the former members of the group.

WHAT SONG DID YOU LISTEN TO LAST? (NO CHEATING, COME OUT WITH THE DIRTY PLEASURES!

The one that preceded this question!

My nominees are:

I know the rules say nominate 5 other bloggers. I’ll just say that anyone who wants to do this can feel free to do so. I will mention three bloggers that I will nominate.

Chevvy8 from Chevvy’s Studio.

Elissa from Embracing My Inner Ginger.

Gwin from Seekthebestblog.

There are a couple other bloggers that I hope would do this as well, but I think they are award-free.

Thanks again Lisa, for the nomination!
