Last Night Was So Fun

…that I need today’s Morning Groove to face a Monday work day.

Today’s Morning Groove is “Feels Good” by Tony! Toni! Toné!

I’m not ready to say goodbye to the weekend. I’m also not ready to go into work. But I’ve gotta go. So, I’m going to need something in the way of musical caffeine—because I don’t drink coffee. I think this song will do the trick.

The second single from the group’s second album, The Revival, “Feels Good” felt good to enough people that it made it all the way to #1 on the R&B list, and landed safely in the top 10 on the Pop side. Before the 1990s had reached the end of the line, the group would be no more.

I’m trying to guess how many times I will have to play this song to get me ready to do battle for Monday morning. Five? Ten? Some number between five and ten? Whatever that number is, I’ll probably tell you in the comments.

Enjoy today’s Morning Groove, and as always thanks for reading and listening. One more thing—if you feel like it, tell me what gets you going on the mornings where your get up and go has got up and gone.

  1. Coffee first, then an hour long walk with the hounds as they will just stare at you with those sad old eyes till you get off the couch and moving….EVERY day! God, to just be able to sleep in for once…now that would be heaven 🙂

    1. Oh, how I need some Earl Grey! I’m slumming with Tetley tea for now!

But yes, the song woke me up…with another song that just popped into my head while I was getting dressed for work:

You kind of have to let the beginning get by-it’s George Benson doing what he does best. But afterwhile, he and that groove get to cookin’!

      1. I guess. Actually the Tetley isn’t bad; it just isn’t Earl Grey with the bergamot. LOL. Right now, I’m having iced green tea from Panera Bread while I listen to that Nuyorican Soul/George Benson track.

  2. Well hope that you were energised enough to get to work and enjoy the day after these two energising songs. It’s interesting reading about your tea preferences. Funny, I have Earl Grey in my cupboard but have never tasted it – probably time I did. I love fragrant teas and love the sensual tea experience 😀

    1. Thanks, Chevvy; the songs were a huge help. As for tea, I do like the Earl Grey. I drink a lot of tea, iced tea, hot tea-makes no difference. I stopped drinking sodas years ago and I guess tea and water filled the slot where the sodas used to be.

      1. It makes sense and sounds healthy. Our government is introducing a sugar tax to discourage people from drinking sodas – to encourage healthier living and reduce obesity.
It will be interesting to see how the future generation live. My younger daughter calls herself a piscetarian – a fish eating vegetarian and she was hinting at becoming a vegan. Since the rest of us are meat eaters, I can see cooking becoming more demanding 😀
