In A World Scared Of Love, Where Freedom Isn’t Free

There was a time when the songs were just as powerful as the messages people were saying in turbulent times. Think of Marvin Gaye and “What’s Going On” as an example. Curtis Mayfield, particularly in the early 1970s. Stevie Wonder comes to mind.

Thanks to SoulTracks for the heads up, and SoundCloud for the upload, another song has been placed into that message folder. Soul-jazz singer Ledisi has released a song called “I Can’t Breathe.” Just listen to her voice and the piano backing.

I don’t have much else to add to this one. Her voice does all the talking I need. I’ll just say it’s beautiful. Say what you wish in the comments.

  1. What gets to me is the lyric, “When does it end?” I wonder about that question every day. There must be a resolution to all of this strife. We have to be better. We have to do better. Thanks for the thoughtful Sunday post, T.Wayne!
