Because I tend to do things like this:
Earlier this month, my blog friends Chevvy and Lady G hosted different “Love Is In The Air!!!” posts. In those posts several bloggers posted songs to compile a massive romantic song mixtape. I’ve taken all of the contributions and put them in a playlist, which I’ve posted below.
Shout outs go to the following bloggers for their contributions:
Lady G: www.seekthebestblog.com
Lisa A.: www.lifeofanelpasowoman.com
Darryl Walker Jr.: www.zoneofnonbeing.wordpress.com
This could have gone well over two hundred songs if I included similar posts made by other bloggers in response to the two original posts. So I made a cutoff to only include songs posted in the comments of the first two posts linked above. What resulted is a great mixtape, filled mostly but not completely with soul/R&B ballads and songs of romance, but with a few surprises thrown in. I did tweak the order of the songs a bit, to make it start as if it were the Quiet Storm radio show of my memories (which is why Smokey Robinson’s “Quiet Storm” leads off), and to keep as best as possible songs by related artists together (done in most, but not all cases).
You’ll need plenty of time on your hands to get through the whole thing. To see the list of all the songs included, you can find them here, or you can click the playlist icon in the upper left hand corner of the video below.
During the course of the weekend after Chevvy’s lead post went live, Al Jarreau passed away. Several of his songs are featured in the playlist. He serves as a sort of anchor to the whole thing, and his greatness is truly missed.
Putting this together was as much fun for me as it was contributing to those posts in the first place. I hope you find something in it that you enjoy as well. As always, thanks for reading and listening.
